Feature update: Prevent Costly Misroutes with Safer Carrier Assignment API Retries
Carrier assignment failures often trigger automatic retries. Without safeguards, these retries can accidentally overwrite an already assigned carrier, leading to misroutes, delayed pickups, or billing mismatches.
This update introduces a safety check that lets you retry API calls confidently, without risking unintended carrier changes once an order is already assigned.
Why it matters:
- Prevents accidental carrier overrides during retries
- Protects orders already handed off to logistics partners
- Gives engineering teams more predictable fulfilment logic
Key Enhancement:
An optional restrict_reassignment parameter ensures reassignment only happens when no carrier is already assigned.
