To further help you keep a track of expiry-sensitive products, the system now provides you with three additional features:
The system has always provided you with the functionality to track expiry-sensitive products at category level. However, sometimes it is possible that products falling under the same category have different shelf-life. In such cases, the system now provides you with the functionality to record shelf-life at product level.
To record shelf-life at product level, go to the “Product Masters” section, and click on the product SKU code.
Here you can enter the shelf-life as:
You can also record shelf-life at SKU-level for multiple products in a single go. In order to do that, download the product attribute sheet and record either Shelf-life as number of days before expiry or as percentage.
You can now also define remaining product shelf-life as percentage at both product level and category level to ensure that you only sell products that have a longer shelf-life remaining.
Here is an example to help you clearly understand this feature:
If you only want to sell products that have more than 70% of shelf-life remaining, you can set default shelf-life as 70% either at the Category level or at Product Level.
In case your products have a shelf-life lower than 70%, the system will automatically de-list the inventory across channels.
The system will calculate shelf life as:
((expiry date – today’s date)/(expiry date – manufacturing date))*100
Please note that for recording shelf-life as a percentage, you need to mandatorily record both expiry data and manufacturing date during the GRN process. This method is only feasible when products have zero inventory available at the time of recording shelf-life. This will ensure that only inventory items that have the required shelf-life remaining are assigned to orders.
If required, you can now define a different shelf-life of products for wholesale orders. For example, let us say you have set shelf-life at SKU level or category level as 60%. This means, only products that have a shelf-life greater than 60% will be assigned to your orders. However, for a specific wholesale customer you can assign products that have a different shelf-life. In this scenario, you can set a different shelf-life based on your requirement.
To set shelf-life, go to “Masters >> Customer Master” and select “Edit Company Details”.
You can now define a different product shelf-life for the wholesale customer.
