The rampant eCommerce growth owing to a global pandemic has brought about a massive paradigm shift in the digital space. Consumers from all over the nation are now an integral part of the eCommerce ecosystem, especially from the lower-tier regions and we have numbers to confirm just that.
We analyzed data around the nationwide eCommerce sales this festive season to generate a report and the results are quite impressive. The time period under consideration extends from Jul 1, 2021, to Nov 4, 2021. Let’s take a look at the major insights based on our report on how different regions performed during this time.
Tier 2 and 3 regions make for a larger portion of the population and cracking it has been of utmost importance for the growth of eCommerce. The last couple of years have hinted towards promising growth in these regions and this year got the results.
The following graph represents the tier-wise progress for different months.
Tier 3 has dominated in the month of July with the maximum eCommerce sales and continues to perform well for the next four months. Tier 2, on the other hand, holds the fort after July. The numbers for Tier remain steady and well below the lower-tier regions.
The swiftly increasing growth in Tier 2 and 3 is expected to continue. In the years to come, Tier 3 will likely contribute to the maximum eCommerce share with its significant population shifting to digital means of buying.
State-Wise Breakdown of the Total eCommerce Sales
The nation-wide eCommerce sales have gone north of $60 billion this year. Just like Tier 2 and 3 outperforming the top tier, state-wise numbers reflect similar results.
Uttar Pradesh emerges as the biggest contributor to the eCommerce orders pan-India with a share of 24.20%, followed by Delhi. Ladakh settles for the least contributing state.
Relying on eCommerce for necessities and otherwise has remained a crucial aspect of our recovery from the pandemic. These results can vouch for the same.
